Deadlines for MBA/MEng match the MBA application cycle:
Round I: Applications due Thursday, September 14, 2023
Round II: Applications due Thursday, January 4, 2024
Standardized Exams: The MBA/MEng concurrent program requires either GMAT or GRE scores.
TOEFL/IELTS score is required for:
- Individuals who received college degrees from a country in which the official language is not English, regardless of the language of instruction; and
- U.S. citizens and permanent residents who received their undergraduate degrees from a country in which the official language is not English.
Prerequisites:
- The Haas School of Business requires a minimum of two years of full-time work experience for admission to the MBA and the concurrent MBA/MEng program.
- Applicants should have completed undergraduate coursework that will enable them to be successful in master’s level courses in their chosen engineering department. Depending upon the applicant’s intended major, an engineering degree may not be required. For example, in Mechanical Engineering, an undergraduate degree in Physics may be suitable. In Industrial Engineering & Operations Research, an undergraduate degree in Mathematics with some coursework in computer programming may be suitable.
How will the business school and selected engineering department decide on my admission?
Applicants will be considered for admission to both departments and a combined committee will make decisions on admission to the concurrent program. Applicants who are admitted to only one of the two programs may enroll in that program.
Does the program accept international students?
Yes, international applicants are welcome.
May I apply to more than one engineering department?
You may apply to up to two engineering departments and your application will be reviewed by both programs. Please choose the department(s) whose program is the best fit for your interests and career goals.
What are the program fees?
Tuition and fees are estimated to be $171,076-$188,565 for the two-year program as of 2022-23. The tuition, fees, and charges are estimates based on currently proposed amounts and are subject to change. Students may apply for financial aid through federal, private or international loans, and may also apply for scholarships and grants administered through the MBA program.
Is financial aid available?
Students admitted to the concurrent program are eligible for financial aid (grants and loans) and scholarships administered through the MBA program, and are eligible for Graduate Student Instructorships (that typically include a partial fee remission).
All admitted students are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships and may apply for additional scholarships as outlined on the Haas financial aid website.

“The MBA/MEng program has already started to help me become a leader who can leverage these asymmetries to bring consumers and businesses the products and technologies they need.” — Michael LaFramboise, MBA/MEng ’25 (ME)
“I was initially drawn to UC Berkeley’s dual MBA/MEng because of the culture of technology and innovation present at Haas, the College of Engineering, and in the surrounding Bay Area. My interest deepened through conversations with students in the initial graduating classes as I learned that the program emphasizes an interdisciplinary focus on the commercialization and development of technology. In the next two years, I am extremely excited about the cross-department capstone project that will allow us to partner with an industry company with the goal of addressing an improvement opportunity.” —Carter Jacobsen, MBA/MEng ’25 (IEOR)
