Launching a new discipline
Dear Berkeley Engineering alumni,
I’m excited to share with you that our new aerospace engineering baccalaureate program launched this fall with the arrival of its inaugural freshman class. This multidisciplinary program, designed by faculty from across the College of Engineering, will prepare students for rewarding careers in the aerospace industry as we enter the era of sustainable aviation, autonomous flight and deep space exploration.
Graduates of this program will have a myriad of job opportunities from which to choose, ranging from multinational corporations that design and manufacture aerospace systems at scale, to startups pioneering new technologies, to federal government agencies such as NASA and the Federal Aviation Administration.
Read on for more details about the program from faculty director Panos Papadopoulos. This issue of BEar News also features stories about Berkeley Engineering alumni who already are making a difference in the global aerospace industry. With our new major, we look forward to seeing many more Berkeley engineers expand the frontiers of flight and space exploration in the future.
