Society of Women Engineers hosts new admits

Prospective students recently received their long-awaited acceptances into Berkeley Engineering. Many of them are now deciding if the program is a good fit for their interests and goals. To help guide newly admitted women to make the most informed decision, Berkeley’s chapter of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), a national professional association, sponsors an overnight host program each spring.

The program’s goal is to encourage women to pursue their interest in engineering and join the community of women engineers at Berkeley. On Friday, April 17, participants will get to meet other admits, current students, alumni and Berkeley professors. The group will also tour research labs, sleep overnight in a campus dorm and attend Cal Day activities on April 18.

The program is reaching out to current Berkeley engineers to help welcome newly admitted students and show them what makes Berkeley unique. SWE is looking for volunteers to help with the program during the day and to host new admits at night. This is an opportunity to share personal perspectives with new admits and make a positive impact on their experience as a Berkeley engineer.
