What is your favorite part of your job?
Advocating for students and helping them navigate their college experience. As advisors we can assist students to make the most of their college experience. Whether it is to build a course plan that fits their goals or to help students navigate policy when they are experiencing extenuating circumstances.
What advice do you have for students?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Oftentimes we are intimidated or very prideful to ask for help. Surprisingly, college can be a very collaborative process. Seek help when you need to.
What is the most unusual job you’ve had?
I’ve been a test subject for a family member to conduct their cosmetology licensure exam. Unfortunately, when they were placing eyelashes on me as part of their exam, they unintentionally glued my eyelids shut. They still owe me for that one to this day.
What are your favorite TV shows?
I don’t watch much television, but I do love following YouTubers who share my hobbies — tennis, crabbing and backpacking.
What is your favorite song, band or type of music?
90’s music is very nostalgic to me. I am particularly fond of The Wallflowers, Incubus, Weezer, Oasis and Red Hot Chili Peppers. However, I’ve been listening to a lot of EDM lately.
