## Program Overview

For students interested in materials and devices, a joint major in EECS/MSE can be valuable. The program combines the study of materials from a broad perspective, as taught in MSE, with the study of their applications in electronic devices and circuits, as taught in EECS. Students selecting this joint major program have two Faculty Advisors, Professors Lutgard De Jonghe in MSE and Ali Javey in EECS.

Notes

1Chemistry 4A is intended for students majoring in chemistry or a closely related field.

2The Humanities/Social Science (H/SS) requirement includes two approved reading and composition courses and four additional approved courses, with which a number of specific conditions must be satisfied. Reading and Composition “A” and “B” must be completed by no later than the end of the sophomore year. The remaining courses may be taken at any time during the program. See coesandbox.berkeley.edu/hss for complete details and a list of approved courses.

3Technical electives must include two courses:

- one from the following: CS 150 (through Spring 2015); EE 118, 143; EECS 151+151LA
^{(4)}, EECS 151+151LB^{(4)}; and - at least 3 units from the MSE 120 series.

^{4}EECS 151+151LA/LB may be used to fulfill only one requirement.

* A minimum of 120 units is required for graduation.
