Your support drives innovation and opportunity
Want to make the world a better place? There’s no better investment than supporting the research and education of engineers. From fighting climate change to curing our most challenging diseases, from pioneering the artificial intelligence movement to unlocking the mysteries of brain function — the ideas and innovations that emerge from Berkeley Engineering are making our world safer, cleaner, healthier, and more creative.
What’s your passion? And how do you want to get involved? There are so many ways you can make a meaningful investment in Berkeley Engineering to advance our mission of creating knowledge, educating leaders and serving society. However you might choose to support the college, your gift — of any size — will make a significant impact, one that will only grow with time. Read on to discover how you too can make the world a whole lot better.

Undergraduate support
It all begins here. More than 3,600 undergraduates currently study at the College of Engineering. They’re insatiably curious. Deeply resourceful. Incredibly disciplined. And wildly imaginative. In addition to their demanding academic workload, our undergrads participate in breakthrough research, national competition teams, entrepreneurial ventures, K-12 student outreach, and much more. Such activities enrich their learning experience and prepare them for leadership roles in whatever field they might choose to pursue. Our student body includes first-generation college students, underrepresented minorities, women, transfer students, veterans, and others — and many need our support for ongoing and expanded opportunities. When you support undergraduate students, you’re declaring your broad optimism for the future.

Faculty support
Berkeley Engineering faculty are among the world’s top researchers, fueling innovation and growth in every engineering discipline. But they also play another crucial role: educating our world’s future researchers, leaders, and innovators—the changemakers who will power our economies and improve our communities. With record-high enrollment at Berkeley, growing our faculty—particularly in high-demand areas such as computing and artificial intelligence—will enhance undergraduate and graduate programs, and provide greater bandwidth for more personalized, hands-on teaching so new generations of engineers can blaze their own trails. One of our criteria for hiring new faculty is that they will advance excellence, innovation and a culture of belonging.
Discovery and innovation
From Google, Apple and Tesla to Allbirds and Warby Parker, Berkeley faculty and alumni have transformed industries and shaped every field. Every day Berkeley Engineering students and faculty are working to advance our understanding and create new technological innovations to improve our world. More than 40 affiliated multidisciplinary centers foster student education, research collaborations, and active partnerships with industry. Building on this tradition, our students are eager to pursue entrepreneurship and innovation in unexpected ways, and the College of Engineering has launched several new programs to meet this demand and lead in this pivotal area.
The Sutardja Center uses the renowned Berkeley Method in its program of lectures and courses in entrepreneurship and technology commercialization.
The Jacobs Institute emphasizes a multidisciplinary experiential program, incorporating hands-on practice with team-based learning and commercial development.
The Management, Entrepreneurship, & Technology program teaches a seamless understanding of technology innovation, from idea to real-world impact.
The Fung Institute offers a graduate Master of Engineering (MEng) program and undergraduate Fung Fellowship program.

Capital projects
We’re growing. Whether it’s our vibrant student body or our groundbreaking discoveries in new fields, UC Berkeley has grown exponentially over the years. It’s critical that our physical spaces keep pace with our intellectual and technological advancement, and meet the growing needs of our students and faculty. Private support will be invaluable as we renovate and reshape the College’s physical spaces to create an environment that aligns with our shared values and strongly supports our mission; that celebrates the engineering culture we wish to express; and that is welcoming, inclusive, vibrant, innovative, and socially minded. And with the launch of UC Berkeley’s largest-ever fundraising campaign in February 2020, there’s a strong incentive for others to join us in enabling this vision.
